The Hurricane Katrina Blog for Relief Weekend

Pseudo-color IRF image of Katrina in the Gulf from NASA GOES-12; processing by University of Wisconsin, Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies.

This is not about innovation, but something more important. When I read about the hurricane Katrina I see many parallels in how the Swedish government reacted during the Tsunami. First the leaders (G. W. Bush in this case) underestimated the extent of the catastrophe. Then he, like the Swedish government, made some bad decisions, like not immediately postpone all other public-relations activities or ignoring the situation. It's something very wrong with putting politics over one of the worst natural disasters in history. When the White House finally reacted the public feeling was “It’s too late!”. Same thing in Sweden.

And btw, donate! The Red Cross is a good choice.

This weekend is The Hurricane Katrina Blog for Relief Weekend. Instapundit's roundup page and the TTLB Katrina Relief page, the Technocrati Flood Aid and Hurricane Katrina. Record your donations here
