Innovative, contributing/participatory journalism

Viacom ($56.5 billion corporation) is turning the underperforming talk radio station KYOU Radio in San Francisco into podcasting central/portal. It performed so poorly in the ratings that it would not even show up on the official Arbitron radio rankings for the city of San Francisco. Now the Web site (www.kyouradio.com) claims to be the "Open Source Radio". You can upload your own podcasts of in MP3, AIFF, AVI or WMA formats (but no OGG support by someone who's so accepting of open source). The material submitted by listeners will be screened by a "censor committee" (my assumption. At least no editors) to make sure it conforms with federal broadcasting standards for decency.More on the subject: http://apnews1.iwon.com//article/20050428/D89O3LUO0.html
